Where do I even begin with this wedding? After a week full of celebration and lake days, Leah got ready for her day at her family’s cabin on Lake Pelican. From the moment you walked in, you could feel the love surrounding Leah and the pure excitement buzzing through everyone there. From start to finish, this day revolved around the importance of family and the people who love Leah and Jake so dang well. Leah’s dress was the dress that both her grandma and her mom wore on their wedding days; her grandma made the entire thing! Leah had it altered to fit her while still keeping all the best parts of the original dress in tact.

Leah and Jake have the gentle kind of love that overflows to every human around them. They have this easiness of being together that made what some may think of as a chaotic day feel like a relaxed time to just celebrate having all of their people in one place.

One of the coolest parts of the day was that Leah and Jake didn’t have a traditional wedding party. Their siblings (Jake’s sister and Leah’s brother) stood up for them and the rest of their friends who they called “their people” were around the entire day celebrating them. Before the ceremony, all of Leah’s girls surrounded the bride and spoke affirmations over her. Future bridesmaids take note: shower your bride with all the affirmations all day, make her feel like the most loved and supported human in the world! There were so many tears shed, including a few behind my camera as well!

The NP Event Space was the perfect space to celebrate these two. The long, dramatic walk down the aisle was epic and emotional for all who were watching. In the middle of the ceremony, each one of “their people” came up and added a bottle of sand along with a memory or affirmation of the couple to a jar for their “unity” ceremony. When Leah’s uncle announced them as husband and wife, you could feel the joy coming from everyone in the room! The reception was nothing short of magical with lit candles everywhere and a live band to keep the dance floor going all night long! Leah and Jake, you two are going to do some great things together.
